Registered Nurse – Emergency Dept.

Performs nursing services in the Emergency Room within the parameters of his/her preparation including, but not limited to, evaluating patient needs; preparing emergency room patient record; patient assessment and triage; emergency room procedures; and documenting patient interactions in accordance with professional nursing standards and Hospital policies.

Monday – Friday/Night Shift: 7:00 pm – 7:00 am

Full Time/72 hours per pay period

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

Licensure/certification: Current RN license to practice nursing in the State of Iowa.

Certification in BCLS and ACLS, or renewal at first available course offering.

Completion of the TNCC course within 1 year.

Previous Work Experience: Previous experience in an acute care facility in an emergency or
intensive care setting preferred.

Skills: Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate in English with people from diverse
professional, educational and lifestyle backgrounds both orally and in writing. Ability to read and understand/follow written and verbal directions. Must be able to direct the work of others while personally handling multiple tasks in a variety of situations. Requires organizational and self motivational skills in prioritizing and managing multiple tasks. Must demonstrate ability to utilize effective decision-making and problem solving techniques. Ability to work independently and interdependently with the health care team and community resources. Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations and focused amid interruptions in a potentially fast paced environment
