About Amy Cooper
With more than 20 years of nursing experience, Amy provides psychiatric mental health care for adolescents ages 12 and older and adults. Her services include mental health evaluations, medication management, education and individualized treatment planning.
Amy’s approach to care is patient-centered, collaborative and evidence-based. She strives to create a safe, nonjudgmental environment where patients feel heard, understood and respected. She believes effective psychiatric care begins with building trust and considering each patient’s values, background, life circumstances and personal goals.
Treatment is not simply about medication. Amy works with each patient to develop a plan that may include medication management, education, therapy referrals, substance use treatment and collaboration with primary care providers or other specialists. Her goal is to help patients take an active role in their care while supporting their long-term mental health and overall well-being.
“Madison County has been home to family for many years. Earlier in my nursing career, I worked at Health Trust Physicians Clinic and on the medical-surgical unit at Madison County Health Care System. I am grateful for the opportunity to return as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner and provide specialized behavioral health care close to home. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and family, traveling, gardening and being outdoors.”
