Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) & Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP)

What Is SHIIP?

The Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) provides free, confidential service from the State of Iowa that helps Iowans make informed decisions about Medicare and other health coverage. They provide information on Medicare, Part A and Part B, the Medicare Drug Program and the Medicare Advantage programs. They also serve as a resource for supplemental insurance, and long term care insurance.

SHIIP counselors serve clients throughout the year, as well as during the annual open enrollment period October 15 – December 7. You may schedule a meeting with a counselor by calling (515) 462-5370. The Madison County SHIIP program is sponsored by and located at Madison County Health System in the Chesnut Building.

What is SMP?
