Get Free, Unbiased Medicare Help

Medicare Open Enrollment is the one time each year when you can review and change your Medicare Advantage (Part C) or prescription drug (Part D) plans. From October 15 through December 7, Madison County Health Care System invites local Medicare beneficiaries, caregivers, and families to schedule appointments with our certified SHIIP counselor for one‑on‑one assistance.

What Is SHIIP?

The Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) provides free, confidential, and objective counseling to help you make informed decisions about your Medicare coverage. SHIIP can help you:

  • Compare 2026 Medicare Advantage and Part D plans
  • Review your current plan and drug list to ensure cost savings
  • Understand Parts A, B, C, and D coverage options
  • Explore Medigap (supplement) plans and enrollment timelines
  • Resolve billing questions or claims issues
  • Identify cost‑saving programs and financial assistance options

Steve Simmons, Madison County’s certified SHIIP counselor, offers confidential appointments by phone or in person at the Chesnut Building. Steve helps you navigate Medicare options step‑by‑step — from plan comparisons to completing enrollment forms.

Appointments are available year‑round, but space fills quickly during open enrollment (Oct 15–Dec 7). Book early to ensure enough time for plan comparisons and any enrollment steps before the deadline.

]]> Join us for a FREE, family-friendly Bike Rodeo on August 6th! Families and their children are invited to bring their bikes for an evening of fun, learning and some awesome prizes! The event features a skills course, bike inspections, games, safety education, and a raffle with great prizes—including a brand new bike! The first 50 kids to arrive will receive a free bike helmet, generously donated in memory of former Police Chief Ken Burk. Please bring your own helmet if you have one; additional safety gear is welcome but not required.
